Aiding endangered species conservation with creative innovation: The black-footed ferret.
One of North America's rarest mammals remains at risk of extinction as less than 300 black-footed ferrets are thought to exist in populations scattered throughout the western United States. SJS is working with a diverse team of wildlife conservationist on a multi-faceted project to adapt UAV technologies to monitoring programs, design a website intended to garner support for conservation actions, and develop a database for streamlining information-sharing across North America all in hopes of helping to move this unique species closer to recovery.
